Frequently Asked Questions
Before Booking
What happens during the first session?
The first session is about understanding your space, your routines, and what's causing the most frustration in your daily life. After a brief conversation, we'll choose one area to focus on and begin working right away.
Most clients are surprised by how much we accomplish in a single session. Our time together is focused and efficient. Years of experience allows me to quickly identify what isn’t working, develop practical strategies, and create organizing approaches that might otherwise take weeks or months to figure out on your own.
We will tailor your systems to the way you naturally live and think. Whether your priority is a calm, beautiful home, easier daily routines, or both, we'll create solutions that are practical, easy to maintain, and designed to work with your brain—not against it.
Do I need to tidy up before you arrive?
Absolutely not.
It's often more helpful if I see your home exactly as it is. Your space tells me a lot about how you naturally use it, where items accumulate, and what systems aren't working.
There is no judgment—only information that helps us craft better solutions.
I'm embarrassed about the state of my home.
You are not alone.
Nearly every client tells me this before our first session. My job isn't to judge how your home looks—it's to understand why your current systems aren't supporting you.
I've seen homes in every stage of clutter and disorganization. Nothing you show me will shock me.
Do I have to have ADHD to work with you?
Not at all.
Many of my clients have ADHD, executive functioning challenges, or simply busy lives that make staying organized difficult. Others don't have ADHD at all—they just want systems that are simple, realistic, and sustainable.
I follow the philosophy of Universal Design—that is designing systems that work for all kinds of brains and abilities.
During Sessions
Do I have to work alongside you?
No.
Some clients enjoy organizing together, but many continue working from home, attend meetings, or run errands while I'm there.
We'll spend a few minutes together at the beginning to decide where to focus. After that, I'm comfortable working independently.
If you are working or occupied, and I need your input on a decision, I'll often text you a photo so you can respond whenever you have a natural break. I don't expect immediate replies, and I try to batch questions together so I'm interrupting you as little as possible.
My goal is to make your life less stressful—not more.
Of course, if you prefer to work side-by-side with me or want to do projects in parallel, I always enjoy the company!
What if I have trouble making decisions about what to keep?
That's why I’m there to support you.
Many people worry they'll be pressured to get rid of things. That's not my approach.
I'll help you think through decisions, ask questions, and offer guidance, but you are in control of what stays and what goes. Some of my clients are minimalists, but many are maximalists (or somewhere in between). Whether your aesthetic is “less is more” or “cluttercore”, we will focus on making your home functional for you.
What if I get overwhelmed easily?
That's one of the main reasons people hire me.
We'll work at a pace that feels good to you and break large projects into smaller steps. If you're feeling overwhelmed, we'll adjust the approach rather than pushing through.
Will you judge me?
Never.
People contact me because they're overwhelmed, busy, or stuck—not because they're lazy. Clutter is often the visible result of competing priorities, executive functioning challenges, life transitions, caregiving responsibilities, or simply not having systems that fit the way you naturally operate.
My role is to understand what's getting in your way and help you create a home that supports your life. Every session is judgment-free, collaborative, and focused on practical solutions that make daily life easier.
What about organizing products?
I rarely recommend organizing products before our first session. I prefer to organize with what you already own whenever possible—and I bring an organizing toolkit to every session. Once we've created a system and know exactly what your space needs, I can recommend products that fit your home instead of buying containers first and hoping they'll work.
I’m happy to share my trade discount at The Container Store when it's a good fit for your project. However, I often recommend more cost-effective solutions from Amazon, Target, and IKEA that provide comparable function.
Logistics
What types of spaces do you organize?
I organize a wide range of residential and commercial spaces, including kitchens, pantries, closets, garages, home offices, kids’ spaces, playrooms, storage areas, office supply rooms, office kitchens, and shared workspaces.
I also help with larger projects such as whole-home organizing, move-ins, unpacking, downsizing, and senior moves. Every project is tailored to the way you live or work, with practical organization that makes your space easier to use and maintain.
If you're not sure whether I can help with your project, just ask.
What areas do you serve?
I serve the San Francisco East Bay, San Francisco, and select parts of the South Bay and North Bay.
Virtual coaching is also available for clients outside my service area.
